Banko Gotiti // Gedeb, Ethiopia // 10oz
Located in the Southern Region of Gedeb, Ethiopia is a large group of family-owned farms that belong to the Banko Gotiti Cooperative. Established in 2012, it consists of around 600 members and has an incredible reputation for producing some of the best washed and natural coffees in Ethiopia.
Producing eye-opening natural coffees are a habit for Ethiopia, and fruit-forward, sweet coffees are relatively common place. Producing natural coffees that have nuance, subtlety, and character is a bit more of a challenge. Ideal growing conditions and expert processing are essential to create a three-dimensional natural coffee. This lot from Banko Gotiti does an excellent job at relating that idea. Manually picked cherries are dried on raised beds for 15 days, checked constantly for proper temperature and humidity, turned regularly, and then rested 4 weeks before export.
