Esperanza de Las Flores // Cauca, Colombia
Esperanza de las Flores is not one singular lot, but a collective, bringing together the work of three women’s groups from across Cauca, Colombia, each navigating vastly different realities in a region still shaped by the long shadow of armed conflict.
Though peace agreements have been signed, many rural communities remain under pressure from dissident groups seeking control. In Timbío, where violence has subsided, women have gained access to training in specialty coffee production. They’ve organized around shared goals, mobilizing their families and building out small-scale, high-quality coffee enterprises.
In contrast, women in El Tambo continue to work within deeply entrenched gender roles and the consequences of a shadow economy. Here, coffee has become a quiet act of independence—one that allows women to begin reclaiming autonomy and economic stability.
Together, these coffees represent a vision of peace that’s rooted in the everyday: in care, in craftsmanship, and in community. "Esperanza" for hope. "Flores" for the women who bring it to life.
