Ginimao // Karnataka, India
India, the world’s 7th largest coffee producer, has a rich history of coffee cultivation. However, pressure to 'modernize' coffee production has led to the widespread adoption of full-sun growing methods, resulting in the loss of much of the country's natural canopy. While this approach may increase land use efficiency and coffee tree productivity, it often comes at the cost of reduced quality and significant environmental degradation.
Steven Rebello, a second-generation coffee farmer, continues his family’s 65-year legacy at Ginimao Farm, a leader in sustainable agronomy. As an early member of the KaadKaapi collective, Ginimao Farm is committed to producing exceptional coffee while safeguarding the delicate biodiversity of the Western Ghats.
