Diogo Dias Teixeira de Macedo - Arara // São Paulo, Brazil
Fazenda Recreio, a fifth-generation farm in Vale da Grama, São Paulo, has been producing exceptional coffee since 1890, earning multiple Cup of Excellence awards, including 1st place in 2004. Under the leadership of Diogo Dias Teixeira de Macedo, an agricultural engineer, the farm merges tradition with innovation, focusing on sustainability and precision-driven coffee production.
Diogo and Fazenda Recreio is highly dedicated to sustainability and worker well-being, with protected forests, water conservation efforts, regenerative farming practices, and full traceability from harvest to export. The farm also provides on-site housing, healthcare, education, and recreational facilities to the community.
This lot features Arara, a hybrid of Yellow Catuai and Obatã, valued for its disease resistance, high yield, and consistency. Uncommon in much of Brazil, harvesting is done entirely by hand in order to ensure only ripe cherry selection. The cherries are collected and then depulped on the same day, followed by controlled fermentation. After a full wash with clean water, the beans are dried on patios and raised beds before final stabilization in mechanical dryers.
