Layo Teraga is a farmer-owned cooperative in Uraga, northern Guji. Founded in 1976, the cooperative provides market access for its smallholder producers that would otherwise not exist.  The cooperative has since grown to over 1,863 active members — many farmer plots comprised of smallholder members who gather cherry from gardens around their homes in semi-forested environments, Layo Teraga brings together producers whose small production weave together a larger narrative throughout their highland landscape.

Coffee here is grown largely within semi-forested environments, where existing vegetation provides natural shade and native plants and fauna provide rich and natural biodiversity. Farmers collect ripe cherries by hand, and deliver to the cooperative where cherries are sorted and floated before undergoing washed processing. The coffee is held in open concrete tanks for 40–48 hours, then dried on raised beds for approximately 12–15 days.
